Vita et Pax Headteacher, Darren May Joins Glass Door Sleep Out to Support Homelessness Charity
3 October 2025 Mr Darren May, Headteacher at Vita et Pax Preparatory School, recently took part in the Glass Door Homeless Charity Sleep Out, joining hundreds of participants in a powerful demonstration of solidarity with those experiencing homelessness across London.
The annual event, organised by Glass Door Homeless Charity, invites individuals to sleep outdoors for one night to raise both awareness and essential funds for the charity’s shelters, meal programmes, and year-round support services.
Mr May Said: “At Vita et Pax, we place compassion, service, and meaningful action at the heart of everything we do.” “Charity and fundraising aren’t just occasional events for us; they’re embedded in our school’s culture. By participating in this Sleep Out, I wanted to show our pupils what it truly means to stand up for others and live out our values in a real and tangible way.”
Vita et Pax has a long-standing commitment to charitable work and community service, with pupils, staff, and families regularly organising fundraising campaigns, food drives, and outreach initiatives. The school actively nurtures a culture of empathy, kindness, and action.
This latest initiative also provides an educational opportunity for pupils to learn more about the realities of homelessness, especially during the colder months. While Mr. May took on the challenge outdoors, pupils and staff supported the cause through their own fundraising efforts and in-school learning activities.
Beyond raising much-needed funds, Mr. May’s participation served to open up important conversations within the school community about the hidden struggles many face daily. His involvement has helped foster greater empathy and understanding among pupils and families alike, encouraging the next generation to take social responsibility seriously.
